Jessica Ray Herzogenrath, an Instructional Assistant Professor of History, joined Texas A&M University in 2020. She teaches about and researches US cultural history, specifically popular culture and dance. Drawing on her experience performing, choreographing, and teaching dance, she explores how dance simultaneously reveals long-established cultural traditions and holds the potential for immediate change. Herzogenrath's writing appears in Feminist Modernist Studies and Dance Source Houston’s the dance dish. Forthcoming publications include an essay on dance at the 1893 World’s Fair in Chicago and a chapter in Dance in US Popular Culture. She also pursues her interest in history curriculum innovation, most recently serving as the faculty lead for the US history survey on the Digital Design for Student Success (D2S2) project, a collaboration with the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB). In 2023, Herzogenrath will begin her tenure as the Associate Director of the Melbern G. Glasscock Center for Humanities Research.
